The UK radio scene is booming with hit stations garnering millions of listeners across the nation and today fans have been treated to brand new channel in the form of Bauer Media Group’s Greatest Hits Radio.

First announced back in November 2018, Bauer Media’s Greatest Hits Radio debuted nationwide today (January 7th) on DAB and is also available on FM in the West Midlands and Liverpool. Targeting the 40-59 age demographic, the station will be playing “the biggest songs of the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s” and will also feature a genuine broadcasting heavyweight in the shape of former Radio 1 Evening Session presenter Mark Goodier, who will host the 10am-1pm morning show.

The station launched this morning in the hands of breakfast show host Simon “Rossie” Ross. The first song to be played was David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’, and the Greatest Hits station will be celebrating the anniversary of Bowie’s birth (January 8, 1947) and death (January 8, 2016) with two documentaries paying tribute to the renowned star, as well as playing tracks from his hugely impressive back catalogue all this week.

Other DJs on the station include Andy Crane, Darren Proctor and Rick Houghton while Greatest Hits Radio promises the likes of Blondie, Queen, Fleetwood Max, INXS, Elton John and Michael Jackson will feature in the station’s music policy.
