Iowa picked up its 16th recruit in the Class of 2023 when three-star defensive end Kenneth Merrieweather announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes via Twitter on Thursday.

Merriweather (6-foot-3, 235 pounds) is the No. 71 DE in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite and is ranked as the 16th overall player in the state of Michigan. The Detroit native plays for Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School and recorded a pick-6 in the Michigan 5A championship game.

In addition to Iowa, Merriweather also had offers from Kentucky, Cincinnati, Oregon, Purdue and Illinois. He is the Hawkeyes' 13th three-star commit in the Class of 2023, which also includes five-star offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor.
