Jules Rendell releases new track 'Old Friend'

Birmingham-born singer Jules Rendell has released her new single called ‘Old Friend’. The track is the first single to be taken from her forthcoming album, Imagine.

Produced by Feranmi Oguns (Jake Isaac, Josh Record) and Bastian Testori from OL Music, ‘Old Friend’ sees Jules following a new musical direction which involves a grittier electronic sound. Delivering an important message through an emotive pop song, Jules’ stunning vocals take centre stage throughout the track.

Speaking about the track, Jules said: “I wanted to make music that reflected the sounds of the city I live in, and its pressures. When I was writing for the album, I felt such pressure around me; travelling at a million miles an hour but feeling like I was getting nowhere, concerned by how much sway ‘success’ had on my self worth. So I left London to see one of my oldest friends in Manchester and I felt centred again; I remembered who I was meant to be.”

‘Old Friend’ has been accompanied by a compelling and thought-provoking video. Directed by Dominic Döring, the visual relays the song’s message perfectly, reminding us all how important the impact of friendship is on mental well-being.

‘Old Friend’ follows up from Jules’ previous 2014 EP Lotusbloom. Since moving to London a decade ago, over the years she has honed her craft as a singer, songwriter and vocal arranger. She has also been a backing vocalist for the likes of JP Cooper, Beverly Knight, X Factor, and Gorillaz to name a few.

We’re looking forward to Jules’ album Imagine when it drops in March 2018. Exploring themes of mental health, self worth, perfectionism and imagination, it’s safe to say that she will be wearing her heart on her sleeve.

‘Old Friend’ is now available to stream and download.
