According to a report from NewsWeek.com, Adam Levine, the frontman for the superstar pop band, Maroon 5, took considerable heat from the legal counsel of Colin Kaepernick, the football player who caused outrage when he chose to take a knee during an NFL game in protest of police brutality.
On Sunday, the former NFL quarterback’s lawyer slammed the Maroon 5 singer for choosing to perform at the halftime show this coming Sunday. Mark Geragos, the lawyer for Kaepernick, referred to Adam as a man who “copped out.”
According to the Los Angeles Times, during his appearence on Good Morning America on Friday, Mark talked about Adam Levine at length. While on the show, Geragos said that if Adam was going to “cross this ideological or intellectual picket line, then own it.”
On Entertainment Tonight this past Thursday, Adam said he and his band would “honor” the protests against police brutality – the whole point of Colin’s knee-taking last year.
These days, Kaepernick seems to be a full-time activist, despite taking considerable money from Nike, a company known for egregious human rights abuses. Levine said he didn’t take the decision to perform at this year’s Superbowl lightly.

As it was reported previously, Adam Levine took heat from fellow cohorts in the entertainment industry, as did the rapper Travis Scott, arguably the biggest hip-hop artist in North America right now. Reportedly, Travis was even spoken to by fellow artists like Jay-Z and Meek Mill.
Moreover, Cardi B and Rihanna also allegedly declined to perform at this year’s Superbowl due to the Colin Kaepernick protests. While it’s been a controversial topic in the last year-and-a-half, some on social media have claimed the entire contention is quite silly for two simple reasons.
In defense of Colin, some have argued that he was merely protesting police brutality, and not protesting the American flag. Others have suggested that the comparisons between playing in the NFL, a job which earns players millions of dollars, cannot be compared at all, in any way, to “slavery,” as some dramatic players and artists have said.

Furthermore, people have stated that if they were to “take a knee,” as Colin did, while they were at their respective job, they would immediately be fired and there would be no means for recourse. While Kaepernick was a football player, he was at “work,” as any other American citizen at their job.
